Officer Commendation

Commendations may be filed through the Cicero Police Department  website, U.S. mail, email, in-person, telephone or anonymously.   Commendation letters are sent to the employee's chain of command (employees generally report to a Lieutenant and Sergeant)   Employees receive annual performance and development reviews. Positive job performance and feedback ensure that employees are meeting or exceeding expectations

Complaints

How to Make a Complaint

 Any person desiring to report misconduct or improper job performance by a Town of Cicero Police Department employee may file a complaint;


  • In person at the Town of Cicero Police Department located at 6200 State Rt 31 Cicero, NY 13039
  • Calling (315) 699-3677 ext. 210, Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4 pm 
  • E-Mail at SRotunno@ciceronypd.gov


All personnel complaints will be forwarded to the Police Chief for review and assignment.


A complete a comprehensive investigation will be made on all formal complaints. A finding is made on each allegation, and each is classified as follows: 


Unfounded: The alleged act(s) did not occur or did not involve department personnel.

Exonerated: The alleged act(s) occurred, but were justified, lawful, and/or proper. 

Not Sustained: There is insufficient evidence to prove or disprove the allegation.

Sustained: There is sufficient evidence to establish the act(s) occurred and that it constituted misconduct.


The Chief of Police will notify in writing of the disposition (finding) of the complaint at the completion of the investigation.


If you are not satisfied with the results of the investigation? 

We sincerely hope that would never happen. But if it does, we encourage you to contact the Chief of Police to discuss the outcome of the investigation. We may be able to provide you additional information and explanation that would be helpful to you. If this does not bring you satisfaction, you may call the Town Supervisor.
