The frequency of active shooter incidents has steadily increased over the last 17 years with no end in sight. As a result of increased public awareness, many citizens have asked what individuals can do to protect themselves and reduce the dangers faced during one of these events. Avoid | Deny |Defend™ has been developed as an easy to remember method for individuals to follow.
The Cicero Police Department has been presenting this program for free to businesses, community groups, and citizens of the Town of Cicero for the past four years.
We are offering this training free of charge to businesses, community groups, and citizens living and working in the Cicero community. The full class is approximately 90 minutes in length. However it can be shortened or elongated depending on your needs or time restrictions. If you have any questions or would like to us to present the Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events Course to your organization, please email Sgt James Snell or call him at 315-699-3677 extension 257.
Periodically we hold open community classes at the Cicero Police Department where all are invited to attend. Although the training is free, we ask that people register if they plan on attending.
